Essential to respiration, limited in the atmosphere, ubiquitous in the universe; oxygen is a potent chemical used as a life-sustaining drug. Its application in medicine is a source of endless importance to health and disease.
The conversation hosted on Oxygenologist intends to tease out the wonder and paradox, the possible good and probable harm, the knowledge or lack there of that accompanies the sometimes unrestricted use of artificial atmospheres containing supra-atmospheric amounts of oxygen in a variety of medical settings, especially those involving anesthesia, sedation, and intensive care.
